University-Established Subjects: Required Credits

The required credits for university-established subjects differ between the Type 1 junior high school and high school teaching-licence categories.

Required Credits by Teaching-Licence Category

For the 2026 academic year, the university-established subjects requirement is 3 credits for the Type 1 junior high school teaching-licence category. The legally required minimum is 4 credits. For the Type 1 high school teaching-licence category, the university-established amount is 5 credits, while the legally required minimum is 12 credits. The high school university-established amount is shown in parentheses in the table.
