Planning for Both Lower- and Upper-Secondary Teaching Licenses

Students aiming to teach mathematics or science should consider obtaining both lower-secondary and upper-secondary Type I teaching licenses.

Why consider both licenses?

For mathematics and science, many local governments require applicants to be expected to obtain both lower-secondary and upper-secondary teaching licenses in order to take teacher recruitment examinations. Students who aim to become mathematics or science teachers are therefore encouraged to consider obtaining both licenses.
