Credit Requirements for Subject-Specific Professional Subjects

For the 2025 academic year, this page explains the credit requirements for subject-specific professional subjects for students pursuing teaching licences.

Required Credits for Teaching Licences

Within Category 2, "Subjects Concerning the Subject and Methods of Teaching," the legally prescribed minimum for subject-specific professional subjects is 20 credits for a Type 1 lower-secondary school teaching licence and 20 credits for a Type 1 upper-secondary school teaching licence. Tokyo Denki University provides these subjects at 20 credits or more for the Type 1 lower-secondary licence and 30 credits or more for the Type 1 upper-secondary licence.
