Eligibility and Registration Rules for Advanced-Year Courses

For eligible students, advanced-year courses require specific academic results, additional approval, and count toward the course-registration credit limit.

Eligibility, approval, and credit-limit status

To be eligible to take advanced-year courses, at least 85% of all your grades—excluding free-choice courses and grades recorded as “R”—must be S or A, and your GPA must be at least 3.4. First-year students are not eligible. Even students who meet these academic standards may take advanced-year courses only when permitted by the relevant academic field and at the discretion of the dean. Credits from advanced-year courses count toward the course-registration credit limit.
