General Chemistry Laboratory: Recommendation and Suitability

Who should consider taking General Chemistry Laboratory?

For the 2025 academic year, students in the School of Science and Technology at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus are recommended to take General Chemistry Laboratory in addition to the required courses in the specialized foundational subject group. General Physics Laboratory is also recommended. The course is suitable for students who are new to chemistry laboratory work: it begins with explanations of how to use basic laboratory equipment, then progresses to experiments such as synthesizing organic compounds and quantitative analysis using an ultraviolet-visible spectrometer. Writing laboratory reports also helps students develop skills needed by science and engineering professionals.
