Eligibility and Application for Courses in Other Faculties or Departments

This page explains the eligibility requirements and application procedure for taking courses offered by another faculty or department, with separate rules for the 2025 Faculty of Future Science and the 2026 Second Department of Engineering.

Eligibility: Faculty of Future Science in 2025

At Tokyo Senju Campus, students in the Faculty of Future Science may apply to take a course offered by another faculty or department only when all of the following conditions are met: the course is not offered in the student’s department and there is no similar course; the course is assigned to the student’s year or an earlier year, so courses for advanced years are not allowed; there is space available in the course; and the course is not one of the specific courses listed in the course registration guide as unavailable for application.

Application Procedure: Faculty of Future Science in 2025

Students who wish to take a course offered by another faculty or department must apply during the designated course registration period and notify the course instructor. The approval or rejection decision will be announced later by notice.

Eligibility: Second Department of Engineering in 2026

At Tokyo Senju Campus, students in the Second Department of Engineering may apply to take a course offered by another faculty or department only when all of the following conditions are met: the course is not offered in the student’s department and there is no similar course; it is assigned to the student’s year or an earlier year, so courses for advanced years are not allowed; the student has not already earned credit for the course; and the course is not one of the specific courses listed in the course registration guide as unavailable for application. For qualification-related courses, including teacher-education courses, the first two conditions do not apply: the course does not need to be absent from the student’s department or lack a similar course, and it does not need to be assigned to the student’s year or an earlier year.
