Foundations for Advanced Chemistry Courses

Learn which chemistry and physical chemistry subjects provide useful preparation for chemistry courses taken in later years.

Recommended foundation subjects

For the 2025 Science study model in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, subjects covering major areas of chemistry should be studied in the lower years. These include Organic Chemistry I, Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, and Chemical Thermodynamics. Studying or taking foundational physical chemistry subjects such as Quantum Mechanics I and Chemical Kinetics is also advantageous when taking advanced chemistry courses in later years that build on these areas.
