Requirement status

For the 2025 and 2026 academic years, Discrete Mathematics I is listed as a required course in the Future Science Faculty's Robotics and Mechatronics programme at Tokyo Senju Campus. It is worth 2 credits. In the specialist mathematics subjects, Discrete Mathematics I and Industrial Mathematics I are required; Linear Algebra II is a required specialist-foundation subject. A 2026 course table also lists Discrete Mathematics I as required for graduation requirements.

Curriculum placement and expected timing

In the 2025 curriculum, Discrete Mathematics I is placed in the first year, second semester, as a two-credit lecture. The DP2 specialist mathematics sequence places it in the first year, second semester, followed by Industrial Mathematics I in the second year, first semester; Industrial Mathematics II and Discrete Mathematics II in the second year, second semester; Fourier Analysis and Numerical Analysis in the third year, first semester; and Optimization Methods in the third year, second semester. Students are strongly expected to take Discrete Mathematics I in its allocated year and earn the credits because it provides a foundation for the department's specialist subjects.
