Character Reference Certificate: Eligibility and Application

This page explains who may obtain the character reference certificate, where to apply, how long issuance takes, and how faculty completion is handled.

Who can obtain the certificate

The character reference certificate is for current students. The supported eligibility scopes are Tokyo Senju Campus students in the Faculty of Engineering in academic year 2025; the Faculty of System Design and Technology in academic years 2025 and 2026; the Faculty of Engineering, Division II in academic years 2025 and 2026; and the Faculty of Future Science in academic year 2026. For these Tokyo Senju Campus scopes, the responsible office is the Tokyo Senju Campus Administrative Office, Academic Affairs, on the third floor of Building 2.

Application process at Saitama Hatoyama Campus

For 2026 students in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus, apply at Academic Affairs. Issuance takes 10 days. In principle, the certificate is completed by a faculty member familiar with the student, such as the supervisor of the graduation research project or the student adviser. Because the faculty member is asked to prepare it after the application is submitted, apply with sufficient time.
