Using a Student Discount Certificate

You can use a student discount certificate when traveling a one-way distance of more than 100 km on trains operated by JR companies for returning home, regular academic activities, extracurricular activities, job hunting, or educational visits. The certificate is valid for three months from the date of issue. It can be used only by the named person. When using it, you must carry your student ID. Misuse may result in an additional charge and suspension of future certificate issuance.
