Cooling-Off Cancellation Deadlines and Notice Procedure

This page explains the cooling-off deadlines for different types of sales contracts and how to send the cancellation notice.

Cancellation deadlines

For multi-level marketing contracts, the cancellation notice must be sent within 20 days, counting the contract date. For door-to-door sales, including street solicitation and appointment-based sales, and for sales solicited by telephone, the notice must be sent within 8 days, counting the contract date as day 1.

How to send the notice

The cooling-off cancellation notice should be sent to the other party by certified content mail or recorded-delivery mail. Keep a copy of the notice.
