Cooling-Off Cancellation Deadlines and Mailing Procedure

This page explains the cancellation deadlines for several types of sales and how to mail a valid cancellation notice.

Cancellation deadlines

For multi-level marketing, send the cancellation notice within 20 days, counting the contract date as day 1. For door-to-door sales, including street-corner solicitation and appointment sales, and for telephone solicitation sales, send the notice within 8 days, counting the contract date as day 1.

How to send the notice

Send the cancellation notice to the other party by content-certified mail or recorded-delivery mail, and keep a copy. A postmark dated on the final day is valid.
