Reinstatement After a Leave of Absence

This page explains the application, required documents, approval process, and notification for returning to study after a leave of absence.

Eligibility and application

When the reason for your leave of absence has ended, you may apply for reinstatement with your guarantor's joint signature. You may resume your studies only after receiving permission from the dean of your faculty. This requirement is supported for the 2026 academic year in the School of Future Science and the School of Engineering, and for the 2025 academic year in the School of Engineering, Second Division.

Procedure for the School of System Design and Technology

Before your leave period ends, the Student Welfare Office sends you the procedure instructions and the reinstatement application form by post. In principle, you must meet with your student advisor; approval is obtained through the advisor's seal on the reinstatement application. Submit the required documents to the Student Welfare Office counter. If your leave was due to illness or injury, attach a doctor's medical certificate. When the reason for your leave has been resolved, you must submit the reinstatement application and obtain permission to return.

How the decision is notified

After the reinstatement decision has been approved, a reinstatement permission notice is sent to you by post. This notification procedure is supported for the 2026 academic year in the School of System Design and Technology and the School of Engineering.
