Withdrawal Dates and Procedural Deadlines

This page explains when withdrawal takes effect, the semester-end dates that apply in specified faculties and academic years, and how missing the procedure deadline affects the withdrawal term.

When withdrawal takes effect

Withdrawal generally takes effect at the end of the semester. For the 2026 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus, the effective date is September 4 for the first semester and March 31 for the second semester in the Faculty of Future Science, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Engineering, Division II. For the 2025 academic year, the Faculty of Future Science at the Tokyo Senju Campus also specifies September 4 for the first semester and March 31 for the second semester. The Faculty of Science and Engineering at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus is described as using the end of the semester as the withdrawal date.

If the procedural deadline is missed

If the procedural deadline for withdrawal at the desired semester end has passed, the withdrawal will instead be treated as taking effect at the end of the following semester. This rule is supported for the 2025 academic year in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Future Science at the Tokyo Senju Campus, and for the 2026 academic year in the Faculty of Engineering, Division II, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Future Science at the Tokyo Senju Campus.

Withdrawal requests and the tuition payment deadline

For the 2025 academic year in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, a withdrawal request may be made only within the tuition payment period.
