Applying for and Completing the Care-Experience Programme

This page explains the application timing, required briefings, preparation, and seven-day structure of the care-experience programme.

Application and Required Briefings

Applications for the care-experience programme are handled by academic-affairs staff through the Saitama Prefectural Board of Education and the Saitama Prefectural Council of Social Welfare, which arrange placements at special needs schools and social welfare facilities. Applicants must complete the application procedure during the designated period in the academic year before the experience. Detailed procedures are explained at the teacher-training-course briefing in early April, in Care and Welfare Studies classes, at the care-experience application briefing planned for mid-December, and through UNIPA. Students seeking a junior-high teaching licence must attend these briefings without fail.

Experience Schedule and Completion Requirements

As a general rule, the care-experience programme consists of two days at a special needs school and five days at a social welfare facility, for a total of seven days. Before starting, students must complete the preparations required by each school or facility and receive on-campus pre-experience guidance. After the experience, students must receive on-campus post-experience guidance and reflect on what they learned. The programme is complete after this post-experience guidance.
