Vehicle Commuting Permission: Application and Eligibility

Students at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus in the Faculty of Science and Technology can apply for vehicle commuting permission by attending the required safety driving seminar and submitting the application documents. The 2026 permission conditions are listed below.

How to apply

For the 2025 and 2026 academic years, students who wish to commute by car or another vehicle must attend the safety driving seminar, held twice a year in May and October. After attending, submit the vehicle commuting application and other required documents to the Faculty of Science and Technology Administrative Office, Student Welfare section, and obtain permission.

2026 permission conditions

For the 2026 academic year, vehicle commuting permission requires that public transportation be difficult to use for commuting, that at least six months have passed since obtaining the driver's license, and that the vehicle be covered by the 12-month periodic inspection and maintenance system under the Road Transport Vehicle Act. The vehicle must also be covered by compulsory automobile liability insurance and the designated voluntary automobile insurance.
