English Requirements and Preparation for Long-Term Study Abroad

For long-term study abroad in English-speaking destinations, language preparation and an IELTS or similar test score are required. Destination requirements may mean preparing for more than one year.

English-language requirements

For students at the Faculty of System Design and Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2026 academic year, long-term study abroad in an English-speaking destination requires taking IELTS or a similar test and obtaining a score. The required English level depends on the destination. For students at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Saitama Hatoyama Campus in the 2026 academic year, taking IELTS or a similar test and obtaining a score is also required for long-term study abroad in an English-speaking destination.

Preparation time

At the Faculty of System Design and Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus in the 2026 academic year, meeting a destination's English requirement for long-term study abroad normally requires more than one year of preparation, including improving language skills.
