For long-term study abroad in the 2025 academic year at Saitama Hatoyama Campus's Faculty of Science and Technology, students going to an English-speaking region need to take an examination such as IELTS and have a score; the English-language requirements vary by destination. For the 2025 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus's Faculty of Engineering (Second Division), students going to an English-speaking region also need to take a test such as IELTS and obtain a score.

How early to prepare

For the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus's Faculty of Engineering and the 2025 academic year at Saitama Hatoyama Campus's Faculty of Science and Technology, meeting a study-abroad destination's English-language requirements usually requires at least one year of preparation. For the 2026 academic year at Saitama Hatoyama Campus's Faculty of Science and Technology, English requirements vary by destination, and one year or more of preparation is normally needed. For the 2025 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus's Faculty of System Design and Technology, the destination's English-language requirements vary, and more than one year of preparation is ordinarily needed to meet them.
