Design Engineering Degree Requirements and Learning Outcomes

This page explains the conditions for receiving the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Design Engineering and the learning outcomes required for the 2025 and 2026 academic years.

Conditions for Receiving the Degree

For the 2025 academic year, the Design Engineering programme awards the Bachelor of Engineering degree to students who remain enrolled at the university for the specified period, earn the credits required for graduation, and achieve the specified learning outcomes. For the 2026 academic year, the same conditions apply: students must remain enrolled for the specified period, earn the credits required for graduation, and achieve the learning outcomes set out in the Faculty of System Design Engineering's degree-awarding policy.

Learning Outcomes

For the 2025 academic year, the required learning outcomes are: (1) knowledge and skills in engineering, as well as the humanities and social sciences, needed to create products, services, and spaces; (2) the practical design ability to integrate engineering knowledge and skills with knowledge of the humanities and social sciences in order to create attractive living spaces for people; (3) broad basic knowledge in science and engineering, together with a proactive attitude toward continually acquiring new knowledge in design engineering; and (4) a deep understanding, through design, of the relationship between science and technology and people, nature, and society, together with an awareness of issues and the intention to solve them under the principle that technology reflects the character of its practitioners. For the 2026 academic year, these four outcomes also apply, together with the ability to accept diverse values and communicate and act as an engineer in a global environment.
