Course-Registration Credit Limits and Exclusions

This page explains how course-registration credit limits are set, the 22-credit semester limit for the Faculty of Engineering, credits that are excluded from the limit, and when registration above the limit may be approved.

How the credit limit is set

The maximum number of credits that may be registered in one year or one semester is set by each faculty in relation to the credits required for graduation. For the Faculty of Engineering in the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus, the course-registration limit is 22 credits per semester. Students should register with enough margin to avoid falling short of required credits in later years.

Credits excluded from the registration limit

For the Faculty of Engineering in the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus, advance graduate-course credits are not included in the course-registration limit. Courses taken under the specified system are also not included in the term course-registration limit.

Registration above the limit

A faculty may approve registration above the stated annual or semester credit limit for a student who has earned the prescribed credits with excellent academic results. The decision is made by the faculty.
