How Course Credits Are Calculated

For the 2025 academic year, this page explains the class-hour ranges and total study time used to calculate one credit in the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo Senju Campus.

Class Hours and Study Time per Credit

For lectures and exercises, 15 to 30 class hours count as 1 credit. For experiments, practical training, drafting, and skills-based classes, 30 to 45 class hours count as 1 credit. In credit calculation, one credit is generally based on a course requiring 45 total hours of study, with the number of credits calculated in principle according to the teaching method.
