Credit Recognition When Re-enrolling
This page explains how previously earned liberal arts and specialized course credits are recognized when re-enrolling in the Faculties of Engineering, Future Science, or System Design Engineering.
Recognition of Liberal Arts Credits
For re-enrollment, English courses, natural science courses—including mathematics, information, and natural science and technology—and hands-on workshop courses are recognized course by course. In human sciences, courses in the Technical Liberal Arts and Global Liberal Arts fields are also recognized course by course. Other field-based human sciences courses are recognized as a group.
Recognition Conditions and Grades
The liberal arts education courses described above are recognized regardless of their assigned academic year and are recorded using the credit value of the re-enrollment destination. The recognized grade is RS, RA, RB, or RC. The department at the re-enrollment destination may instead assign RN. Specialized education courses are also recognized using the credit value of the re-enrollment destination, regardless of their assigned academic year, with grades of RS, RA, RB, or RC; the destination department may instead assign RN.
Recognition of Specialized Course Credits
Specialized education courses are recognized course by course. If a course cannot be matched, the department at the re-enrollment destination may recognize it as a group.
