High School Teaching License Credit Requirements
This page explains which credit categories are required and when credits from optional or specified courses can reduce other high school teaching license requirements.
Required and optional credit categories
For the 2026 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of System Design and Technology, you must complete all credits established by the university for Categories 1, 2, and 3 when obtaining a high school teaching license. Category 4 courses are optional. If you complete Category 4 courses, those credits may be counted toward the required total, and the Category 2 requirement, "Specialized Subjects Related to the Teaching Subject," may be reduced by the number of Category 4 credits you earn.
Specified courses and the specialized-subject requirement
For the 2025 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Engineering, credits from the following three courses may be counted as "Subjects Independently Established by the University" when obtaining a high school teaching license: Social Welfare and Caregiving, Advanced Studies in Caregiving Experience, and Moral Theory and Teaching Methods. The credits earned in these courses can reduce the requirement of at least 30 credits in total for "Specialized Subjects Related to the Teaching Subject." If you have already earned at least 30 credits in that specialized-subject category, you do not need to complete these three courses.
