Industrial Studies Teaching-License Credit Requirements

For the 2025 academic year, this page explains the substitution route for Industrial Studies teaching-license credits and what to do if the route does not provide enough credits.

Substitution Route for Required Credits

You may obtain the Industrial Studies teaching license without earning credits in Category 3 if you earn 8 credits in subjects designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology from the Human Formation, Specialized Basic, and English subject groups, and earn at least 59 credits in Industrial Studies Category 2. The 59 credits must include Career Guidance (2 credits) and Teaching Methods for Industrial Studies (4 credits).

If Additional Credits Are Needed

If your affiliated academic system offers too few Industrial Studies subject-related courses for the substitution route to provide the required 59 credits, earn additional credits through Category 3 subjects or Industrial Studies subject-related courses offered by another academic system.
