Credit Requirements for a Type 1 Middle School Teaching License

For the 2026 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus, students in the School of Future Science must complete all university-established credits in Categories 1 through 4. The requirement is at least 60 university-established credits in total.

Required categories and minimum credits

To obtain a Type 1 middle school teaching license, you must earn all credits established by the university for subjects in Categories 1, 2, 3, and 4. The legal minimum is 59 credits, while the university-established requirement is at least 60 credits. The same table lists a legal minimum of 59 credits and a university-established requirement of at least 59 credits for a Type 1 high school teaching license.
