Academic-Year Advancement Requirements

Saitama Hatoyama Campus: 2026 Requirements

To advance from the third year to the fourth year, students must meet the advancement conditions for their academic field and the other applicable conditions, and must have earned at least 104 credits from courses offered for the first through third years. Free-choice courses are not included in this total.

Advancement generally requires all of the following: payment of the required tuition and other fees, at least 12 months of enrollment in the same academic year in total, and fulfillment of any conditions required for advancement to the higher year.

There is no grade-based advancement requirement for moving from the second year to the third year. However, students must still meet the applicable enrollment and fee conditions.

Saitama Hatoyama Campus: 2025 Requirements

At the end of the first year, students must have earned at least 30 credits from courses offered for the first year.

Advancement is generally approved only when all of the following conditions are met: payment of the required tuition and other fees, at least 12 months of enrollment in the same academic year in total, and fulfillment of any conditions required for advancement to the higher year. A leave of absence is not included in the period of enrollment for this purpose.

If the advancement conditions are not met, the student remains in the original academic year.

Students should register for courses while paying attention to their credit-acquisition status so that they can meet the requirements for advancement to the next academic year.
