When You Must Carry Your Residence Card

The residence-card requirement for international students differs by academic year and faculty.

2026: Faculty of System Design and Engineering

For students at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of System Design and Engineering during the 2026 academic year, a residence card showing the specified Student residence status must be carried.

2025: Faculty of Engineering

For the 2025 academic year, an international student is defined as a foreign national holding the Student residence status specified in Appended Table I-4 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. The student is required to carry a residence card showing that status at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Engineering.
