Recognition of Specialized Education Credits
This page explains how Specialized Education credits are recognized for new entrants, transfer students, and internal transfers, including course matching, destination credit values, assigned-year rules, and grades.
New entrants and transfer students in the Faculty of Future Science
For the 2025 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus, Specialized Education courses for both new entrants and transfer students are recognized through course-to-course matching. Recognition is not affected by the course's assigned year. Credits are awarded using the credit value of the destination institution: for new entrants, the Faculty of Future Science uses the credit value of the receiving programme; for transfer students, the credit value of the transfer destination is used. Recognized Specialized Education courses are graded RN.
Internal faculty and department transfers in the Second Division of the Faculty of Engineering
For the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus, Specialized Education courses for internal faculty transfers and internal department transfers are recognized through course-to-course matching and credited using the credit value of the destination faculty or department. For internal faculty transfers, recognition is not affected by the course's assigned year. The grade is normally RS, RA, RB, or RC, but the destination department may instead assign RN.
