Recognition of Previously Earned Specialized-Education Credits
This page explains how specialized-education credits are matched, counted, graded, and assigned to an academic year for transfer students.
Rules for the 2026 academic year
For the 2026 academic year, specialized-education courses are recognized through course-to-course correspondence. If correspondence cannot be established, the admitting department may grant comprehensive recognition at its discretion. Recognized credits are counted using the credit value of the admitting institution's course, and they are recognized regardless of the assigned year.
Rules for the 2025 academic year transfer entrants
For transfer entrants in the 2025 academic year, recognized specialized-education courses are assigned the grade RN. The credits are recognized using the credit value at the institution to which the student transfers, and recognition does not depend on the course's assigned year.
