Teacher Certification Courses and Eligible Credits

This page explains credits required in addition to graduation requirements, how rule changes may affect required courses, and which recognized credits cannot be counted toward teacher certification.

Courses Required in Addition to Graduation Credits

For students pursuing the teacher-training course in the 2025 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus Faculty of System Design and Engineering, the required teacher-training subjects must be taken and completed in addition to the credits specified for graduation, including common education and specialized education subjects.

Additional Courses After Certification-Rule Changes

For the 2026 academic year at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus Faculty of Science and Engineering, the law applicable during enrollment may be amended. If this happens, the number of subjects that must be completed may increase.

Credits That Cannot Count Toward Teacher Certification

For the 2026 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus Faculty of System Design and Engineering, subjects whose credits were recognized when a student transferred between faculties or departments or re-entered the university cannot be counted toward the requirements for obtaining a teaching license.
