Teacher Recruitment Examination Requirements

Passing the teacher recruitment examination

For students in the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology at Tokyo Senju Campus, teaching requires taking and passing the teacher recruitment examination. This applies to the 2025 and 2026 academic years.

Requirements for holding both teaching licences

You may not always be able to take a teacher recruitment examination without planning to obtain both lower-secondary and upper-secondary teaching licences. Some local governments and private schools require applicants to plan to obtain both licences. This requirement is particularly common for mathematics and science positions, for which many local governments require expected acquisition of both licences. The Faculty of Engineering recommends that students aiming to teach mathematics or science consider obtaining both licences.
