Teaching Licence Requirements and Credit Totals

This page explains which teaching licences are required by school type and subject, and gives the required credit totals for middle and high school licences in the stated scope.

Licence requirements by school type

To become a teacher at an elementary school, middle school, high school, special-needs school, or kindergarten, you need the teaching licence for that type of school. Middle school and high school teaching licences are divided by subject.

Required credits for middle and high school licences

In the relevant table, the total requirement is 29 credits for a middle school licence and 25 credits for a high school licence.
