Leave of Absence: Duration and Extension

For students covered by these rules, a leave of absence normally lasts only for the academic year in which it is approved. An extension may be permitted in special circumstances, but the total period cannot exceed three years.

Leave period and maximum duration

For the 2026 academic year at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, School of Science and Technology, a leave of absence is limited to the academic year for which it is approved. If special circumstances are recognized, an extension may be permitted upon application. The total period of leave cannot exceed three years.
