Teacher Licence Pathways and Eligible Credits

This page explains the principle of obtaining your home department’s teacher licence, an alternative credit-based route described in the regulations, and credits that cannot be counted toward teacher licence requirements.

Obtain your home department’s licence first

In principle, you must obtain the teacher licence for the school type and subject available through your own department. You may add a licence for another subject that is not certified for your department, but you must first obtain the licence for a school type and subject that your own department can provide.

Alternative credit-based route

The stated regulations provide a route to obtain a teacher licence without earning any credits in the subjects concerning the basic understanding of education. Under this route, you must earn at least 2 credits in each subject specified under Article 66-6 of the Enforcement Regulations for the Teacher's License Act. You must also earn at least 59 credits in subjects concerning specialized knowledge in the teaching subject, including all subjects covering general and comprehensive content, such as 2 credits in Vocational Guidance and 2 credits in Introduction to Industrial Technology.

Credits that cannot be counted

Credits recognized when you transfer to another faculty or department, or when you are readmitted, cannot be counted toward the requirements for obtaining a teacher licence.
