This page explains the credit requirements for obtaining a teaching license, including category minimums, university-offered courses, shaded courses, and how excess credits may be applied.

2026: Future Science Faculty requirements

For students in the Future Science Faculty at the Tokyo Senju Campus in academic year 2026, the university requires credits from university-offered courses in each of categories 1, 2, 3, and 4. By graduation, you must meet the statutory minimum number of credits for each category shown in the table. In the subject-specialist table, shaded courses containing general and comprehensive content must also be completed to obtain the teaching license. This shaded-course requirement is separate from the classification used for progression and graduation requirements.

Required credits according to the licence type

In academic year 2025, obtaining a teaching licence requires completing the prescribed number of credits for the type of licence being sought. For the Faculty of Engineering, Second Division, the required credits depend on the licence type. For the Future Science Faculty, the listed credit requirements apply to first-class junior high school and first-class senior high school teaching licences.
