Part-Time Work Considered Educationally Undesirable
For students in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus in the 2025 academic year, the following types of part-time work are listed as educationally undesirable.
Sales, surveys, and promotional activities
The following work is listed as educationally undesirable: door-to-door sales, solicitation, work specializing in collections, surveys of unspecified members of the public on the street or at homes, and distributing leaflets or putting up posters on the street. The survey work is noted as often taking place without consent and often causing trouble. Leaflet distribution and poster posting are noted because the content may be problematic or the activity may be unauthorized.
Political and investigative work
All duties related to election support are listed as educationally undesirable because the university does not consider it desirable to support a particular political party or candidate. Spying and investigations resembling private-investigator work are also listed as educationally undesirable.
Amusement, gambling, and late-night work
On-site work at bars, clubs, mahjong parlors, pachinko parlors, and other amusement businesses is listed as educationally undesirable. On-site work inside gambling venues, including horse-racing or bicycle-racing facilities, is also listed. Late-night work is separately listed as educationally undesirable, and long-running late-night work is included among the examples.
