Graduation at the End of the First Semester

This page explains when end-of-first-semester graduation is possible, how intention or application affects the graduation date, and which graduation requirements apply.

Eligibility and Graduation Timing

A fourth-year student who was not able to meet the graduation requirements and therefore remained enrolled may graduate at the end of the first semester of the following academic year if they meet the graduation requirements during that semester. End-of-first-semester graduation is also granted when the prescribed graduation conditions, including the required number of credits, have been met. This graduation takes place in September.

Application and Intention Confirmation

For the 2025 academic year at Saitama Hatoyama Campus in the Faculty of Science and Technology, if a student does not submit a request for end-of-first-semester graduation, the student will graduate at the end of the academic year even if all graduation requirements have been met. For the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering, Division II, a student who indicates a wish to graduate at the end of the first semester during intention confirmation will graduate in September. A student who cannot be contacted for intention confirmation will also graduate in September.

Graduation Requirements That Apply

The graduation conditions used for end-of-first-semester graduation are the conditions presented to students in the academic year when they entered the university. This rule applies to the 2025 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Future Science and to the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Engineering, Division II.
