Credit Requirements for an Industrial Education Teaching Licence

For the 2026 academic year at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus, this page explains the credits required for an industrial education teaching licence and alternative courses when your affiliated field does not offer enough relevant subjects.

Required credits and alternative courses

Even if you do not complete any courses in the category covering the foundational understanding of education and related subjects, you can obtain an industrial education teaching licence by completing 8 credits designated by the Ministry of Education from the Human Sciences, English, and Natural Sciences subject groups, together with at least 59 credits in subjects and teaching methods for industrial education. The 59 credits include 2 credits in Vocational Guidance and 4 credits in Industrial Education Methods. If your affiliated field does not offer enough industrial education subject courses to reach the 59-credit requirement under the applicable special provision, you must earn credits by taking courses in the category covering the foundational understanding of education and related subjects or industrial education subject courses offered by another field.
