Credit Requirements for Progression and Graduation
This page explains the total credits required for graduation, the credits needed to progress to the second year, specialist-subject credit thresholds, and the requirement to complete all listed main-course subjects.
Total credits and first-year progression
For the Information System Design curriculum model at the Faculty of Science and Technology's Saitama Hatoyama Campus, you need 124 credits to graduate in both academic year 2025 and academic year 2026. To progress from the first year to the second year, you need 30 credits in academic year 2025 and 30 credits in academic year 2026.
Specialist-subject credit thresholds
For academic year 2026, the specialist-subject requirements depend on whether your sub-course is in your own field or in another field. If your sub-course is in your own field, the requirements are: 23 credits in system-common subjects in the own-field category for progression and 34 for graduation; 18 credits in main-course specialty subjects for progression and 26 for graduation; and 5 credits in sub-course specialty subjects for progression and 8 for graduation. If your sub-course is in another field, the requirements are: 19 credits in system-common subjects in the own-field category for progression and 28 for graduation; 18 credits in main-course specialty subjects for progression and 26 for graduation; and 9 credits in the designated sub-course subject group for progression and 14 for graduation.
Required main-course subjects
In addition to meeting the credit thresholds, you must take every course listed for your main course and earn all the credits assigned to those courses. The listed course-specialty subjects must be completed as main-course subjects.
