How Transfer Credits Count Toward Teacher-Licence Requirements
The treatment of previously earned or recognized credits differs by faculty and situation for the 2026 academic year.
Engineering Faculty, Division II: Recognized Credits Cannot Be Counted
For students at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Engineering Faculty, Division II, during the 2026 academic year, courses whose credits were recognized when changing faculties, changing departments, or being readmitted cannot be counted toward the requirements for obtaining a teaching licence.
System Design Engineering Faculty: Previously Earned Credits and Limits
For students at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of System Design Engineering during the 2026 academic year, credits already earned at a previous institution through transfer admission or a similar process may be counted as valid credits toward obtaining a teaching licence. However, under applicable laws and regulations, a limit may apply to the number of credits that can be counted, depending on whether the previous institution had an accredited teacher-training course.
