When a Teaching Licence Is Required

A school-specific teaching licence is required for teaching positions in the listed types of schools, with additional subject-specific licensing for junior and senior high schools.

Teaching positions that require a licence

To become a teacher at an elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, special needs school, or kindergarten, you need the teaching licence for that type of school. A licence is also required to become a school nurse teacher. Junior high school and senior high school licences are divided by subject, so the licence must correspond to the subject you teach.
