Subject-Specialist Credits After Using the Permitted Substitution

This page explains how many subject-specialist credits are required when credits from independently established university courses are used as a permitted substitution.

Required credits and substitution limit

For the 2025 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Engineering, earning 5 credits from independently established university courses means that you must earn at least 25 credits from subject-specialist courses.

For the 2026 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology, at least 30 credits must be earned from the listed courses, including the shaded courses. Up to 5 of these 30 credits may be replaced by credits from independently established university courses. The required subject-specialist credits are calculated as 30 minus the number of replacement credits. For example, 5 replacement credits require at least 25 subject-specialist credits.

The same substitution rule applies to the 2025 academic year at Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology: up to 5 of the 30 credits may be replaced, and the subject-specialist requirement is at least 30 minus the number of credits earned from independently established university courses.
