Recognition of Previously Earned Credits
For the 2025 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus in the Faculty of System Design Engineering, this page explains which prior studies may be recognized and how specialized-education credits are assessed.
Studies Eligible for Credit Recognition
Studies completed before admission may be recognized as credits earned after admission if the faculty meeting considers them educationally beneficial. Eligible prior study includes courses completed at another university or junior college, including courses taken as a non-degree student; study in an advanced course at a junior college or technical college; and other study separately designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. For technical-college study, courses are generally limited to those taken in the fourth or fifth year.
Assessment and Treatment of Recognized Specialized-Education Credits
The assessment assigned to recognized specialized-education credits is RN. Specialized-education courses are recognized regardless of their designated year and are recorded using the credit value assigned by the program into which you are admitted. If a specialized-education course cannot be matched to a corresponding course, it may be recognized as a comprehensive credit allocation based on the judgment of the department into which you are admitted.
