Doctoral Dissertation Publication Deadline

Doctoral degree recipients must publish the full text of their dissertation within one year of the degree award date, unless it was published before the degree was awarded.

Publication deadline

A person who receives a doctoral degree must publish the full text of the dissertation within one year from the date the degree is awarded. This rule is stated for the 2025 academic year at the Saitama Hatoyama Campus Faculty of Science and Technology, and for the 2026 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering (Second Division), and the Saitama Hatoyama Campus Faculty of Science and Technology.

Exception for prior publication

The one-year publication requirement does not apply when the full dissertation was already published before the doctoral degree was awarded. This exception is stated for the 2026 academic year at the Tokyo Senju Campus Faculty of Engineering and the Saitama Hatoyama Campus Faculty of Science and Technology.
