Credit Recognition and Grades After a Faculty or Department Transfer

This page explains how common education and specialized-course credits are recognized and graded after a faculty or department transfer.

After a faculty transfer

For a faculty transfer among the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Future Science, and Faculty of System Design Engineering, common education courses are recognized through subject-to-subject matching, regardless of the year in which the course is assigned. Their grades are normally recorded as S, A, B, or C, although the destination department may decide to record them as RN. Specialized education courses are also recognized through subject-to-subject matching. They are awarded the number of credits specified by the destination faculty, regardless of the course's assigned year.

After a department transfer

For a department transfer, common education courses are normally graded as S, A, B, or C. The destination department may instead decide to record a common education course as RN. Specialized education courses are recognized through subject-to-subject matching and are awarded the number of credits specified by the destination department, regardless of the course's assigned year. Their grades are normally recorded as RS, RA, RB, or RC, although the destination department may decide to record them as RN.
