High School Teaching Licence: Subject-Specific Credit Requirement
For the 2026 academic year, the high school teaching licence requirement includes 30 credits in subject-specific professional subjects, with limited substitution by university-specific subjects.
Required credits and substitution
To obtain a high school teaching licence, you must earn at least 30 credits from the subjects listed under subject-specific professional subjects. The shaded subjects must be included. Of these 30 credits, up to 5 credits may be replaced with credits earned in university-specific subjects. If you use this substitution, the required number of subject-specific professional-subject credits is reduced by the number of university-specific-subject credits used. For example, earning 5 credits in university-specific subjects means that you must earn at least 25 credits in subject-specific professional subjects.
