Special Scholarship: Eligibility and Recruitment Timing

The Special Scholarship is a university-funded grant for eligible undergraduate students with strong academic performance and character who have financial difficulty continuing their studies. Recruitment takes place in May.

Recruitment period

The recruitment period for the Special Scholarship is May. This timing is stated for the 2026 academic year in the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology and for the 2025 academic year in the Faculty of Future Science, both at Tokyo Senju Campus.

Eligibility for 2026 applicants

For the 2026 academic year in the Faculty of Systems Design and Technology, the Special Scholarship is a university-specific grant established using donations from the Sakurai family and funds accumulated by the Tokyo Denki University educational corporation. It is intended for students in years 2–4 of an undergraduate faculty who have excellent character and academic performance and difficulty paying tuition. A household financial criterion based on the applicable private-university operating-expense subsidy standard also applies.

Eligibility for 2025 applicants

For the 2025 academic year in the Faculty of Future Science, the university-funded Special Scholarship is for students in years 2–4 of an undergraduate faculty who have excellent character and academic performance and difficulty paying tuition. A household financial criterion based on the private-university operating-expense subsidy framework also applies.
