Treatment-Day Requirements for the Student Education and Research Accident Insurance Benefit

This page explains how treatment days are counted and the number of days required for the medical benefit under different accident circumstances.

How treatment days affect eligibility

For an accident during curricular activities or school events, the medical benefit is payable from the first actual treatment day. An actual treatment day is a day on which you were hospitalized or received outpatient treatment. For an accident during extracurricular activities, the benefit is payable when you have 14 or more actual treatment days. For an accident while traveling or in transit, the benefit is payable when you have 4 or more actual treatment days. The benefit amount varies according to the number of treatment days until you can resume normal daily life.
