Student Accident and Commuting Insurance: Coverage Period and Additional Premiums
This page explains the standard coverage period, enrollment and initial payment, and additional premiums when study extends beyond the prescribed period or coverage expires.
Standard coverage period and initial enrollment
The insurance coverage period is the prescribed period of study. For the 2026 academic year, this applies to the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Future Science at Tokyo Senju Campus. It also applies to the Faculty of Engineering, Second Division, at Tokyo Senju Campus for the 2025 academic year. For the 2026 Faculty of Engineering intake, the premium for the full prescribed period of study is paid during the admission procedures, and all students are enrolled.
Additional premium after the coverage period ends
If your study extends beyond the prescribed period because of repeating a year or another reason, one year's insurance premium is collected when you pay your tuition. The same one-year premium is collected at tuition payment from students whose coverage has expired, including students repeating a year or taking a leave of absence. These rules are stated for the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Future Science at Tokyo Senju Campus for the 2026 academic year, and for the Faculty of Engineering, Second Division, at Tokyo Senju Campus for the 2025 academic year. For the 2026 Faculty of Engineering, any change to the collection method is announced by the Student Support Center's student welfare section.
