Academic Eligibility for the Higher Education Study Support System

This page explains the academic performance, credit, and study-plan criteria for the Higher Education Study Support System.

Academic performance criteria

For first-year students, the first academic criterion is a high school or equivalent-school grade average of at least 3.5, or passing the upper-secondary-school equivalency examination. For students in their second year or above, the first academic criterion is that their GPA or equivalent places them in the top half of the relevant faculty or similar unit in which they are enrolled.

Credits and study plan

The second academic criterion requires both of the following: the student has earned at least the standard number of credits, and their study plan confirms their motivation to study with the goal of becoming self-reliant and active in society in the future.
